We report on how other media meet their responsibilities, so we publish our own standards openly. This is the process every article on the European Media Forum follows.
Our editorial decisions are made solely by our newsroom. No funder, member, advertiser or partner has any influence over what we publish or how we cover it. Where a potential conflict of interest exists, we disclose it in the article.
Every factual claim must be supported by a verifiable source, and significant sources are cited at the foot of each article. We prefer primary sources and named experts. Where we rely on anonymous sources, we explain why anonymity was granted and how we verified the information.
When our reporting is critical of an organisation or individual, we give them a genuine opportunity to respond before publication, and we represent their response fairly.
Every article carries the name of its author. We don't publish anonymously bylined reporting, and we don't use AI to generate articles presented as human journalism.
We correct errors promptly and transparently. Substantive corrections are noted at the foot of the affected article with the date and nature of the change. If you spot an error, email [email protected].
We publish our major funding sources annually and never accept funding conditioned on editorial outcomes.
